Overlooking the San Francisco Bay, Piedmont City lies proudly atop the marvelous
Oakland Hills in Alameda County, California. It is practically landlocked by the City
of Oakland. Named “Best Place to Live-Urban Enclaves” by Forbes in 2007 and also
included in CNN Money Magazine’s ‘The Best Places to Live in 2007’, classified as
among the “25 Top Earning Towns”. Owing its status to its impressive school system,
low crime rate and high property values, Piedmont’s largely residential community
cannot be prouder of their city.

History
With its citizens opting to incorporate and separate from the large City of Oakland in
1907, it took only about 20 years for it to be known as the City of Millionaires, owing to
its ability to attract millionaires and actually having the most number of millionaires per
square-mile in the United States.
Piedmont means “Foot of the mountain” in Italian and taken from the Piedmont Land
Company, the company that 1877 Western Union President James Gamble created
upon purchasing the land. Starting out as a very small community, Piedmont grew
almost 10 times during the San Francisco earthquake in April 1906. Many evacuees
during that time never returned and settled in Piedmont.
Piedmont enjoyed sustained growth through the 50′s, 60′s, and 70′s as its population
expands. It then gained the reputation of being”low risk” oil and gas exploration area
and oil rigs sprang up all over the town of Piedmont in no time.
Since then, Piedmont has seen tremendous growth as its population doubled. By 2000,
Piedmont has inducted a public library with an advanced internet “hot spot”. It has also
opened its own new fully staffed professional medical center and clinic.
Today, Piedmont is a modern chartered city that is reputed to be swift in addressing the
needs of its still growing constituency.
Atmosphere
Since the entire Piedmont is practically landscaped, it enjoys the luxury of a well-
designed city. It has prominent, established, high-quality single family homes on serene
tree-lined streets. Found within its 1.7 square-mile area are city parks and numerous
theme-designed spots thath offer wooded paths, tennis courts, children’s playgrounds,
ideal for family picnics. As if positioning itself to balance the urban rush around it,
Piedmont is decidedly peaceful from the start.
Up and Coming
With a solid track record of good administration and successful community programs,
Piedmont is reasonably THE up and coming place to live in Oklahoma.
The leadership along with its responsible constituents focused on cultivating business
and community development. Many are attracted to Piedmont because of our amiable
country appeal with the noise and adventures of big city Oklahoma just a feew minutes
away. The schools in Piedmont are known to best other school districts in America, with
well-founded reputation of academic excellence and the best extra-curricular programs
available to students.
